Within the confines of this piece we will try and answer the question that many people often bring up. Should there be a September 11 holiday? It is important to note that this holiday would pay homage to brave people that died during one of the most trying experiences in America's time line. We will take a look at why most people oppose the idea of this holiday.
Before we get into the discussion involving opposition let's review what happened in the North American continent on this fateful date. In the year 2001, terrorists choice this date to use American airplanes in an attack against the two popular world trade center buildings in New York city, as well as the American Pentagon. Many rescue personal perished, trying to assist those in need of help.
The most commonly found argument against this type of holiday is that many people are opposed to a holiday that would fall so very close to labor day. Some people do not want to even consider the notion of having two separate holidays so very close together. It is important to consider that these holidays are honoring two completely different things.
Some people say that memorial day is the official holiday that Americans should use to honor these falling rescue heroes. However this argument has trouble holding water if one is to consider that memorial day concentrates mostly on military heroes that perished in battle. Some argue that rescue personnel deserve a holiday of their very own.
There are those people that argue that such a holiday would be in focused too heavily on something negative that happened to Americans. This will easily fall apart when you consider that the holiday would not be concentrated on honoring a negative event, but the way that Americans actually bonded together in response of one. This is one of the worst arguments against the holiday.
It is very important to mention that there is a day in America set aside as an honorary date, in similar fashion as the national day to honor the attacks on pearl harbor. The way that America persevered though these attacks would require a national holiday however, some are very likely to argue. It is very clear to see why they feel this way if you've ever seen news footage of the attacks.
After learning a little more about why so many people protest the idea of September 11 holiday, you might be able to make a more educated decision about how such a thing makes you feel. Keep in mind that the arguments of both sides make valid points and consider all notions very heavily before making a decision of your own.
