Turning Terror Into Triumph

During my childhood, my Mother would relate War stories about living in London during the time of the "Blitz" in the second of the two world wars. Tales of hurriedly leaving the house to get to the shelters in advance of the cacophony of noise that accompanied the explosions of the falling bombs that brought death and destruction to the city's inhabitants. Three times they came back to find their home and everything in it totally destroyed.
Is it possible to even grasp the enormity of having to start your life all over again from ground zero?
Grateful that such things are buried in the past? They are still happening today!
In Israel today, people are suffering the modern day equivalent of those World war bombing raids. On a regular basis, their enemies in surrounding countries are firing rockets and missiles on unsuspecting inhabitants. The armaments used today are far more accurate and deadly than those from my mothers time.
With shorter warning alert times, there is a huge need for protective shelters. Those living in the cities under attack need fast and immediate access to safe places making it a priority to provide more shelters.
One man, Yaron Bob, is addressing this situation in a unique and special way. He actively collects up the remains of the exploded Kassam rockets and then he creates works of art out of them!
People readily buy these art pieces which range from simple key chains to incredibly beautiful hand crafted metal "roses." Then, artist Yaron gives part of the proceeds to groups that help provide shelters and direct support to the many victims of terror in Israel.
Of course I am sure that Yaron would prefer there to be a shortage of raw materials for his work, but right now the enemy is providing him with a more than adequate supply.
What he is doing is a great example of resourcefulness. Taking an item of extreme terror, he has used these weapons of destruction and triumphantly created something beautiful, a great validation of the genius of Israeli people.
