The Government Is Out Of Control With Our Money

The 2009 stimulus bill had no special grants in it that were aimed at regular people. This is something that many people still fail to understand today: that there just wasn't any money in that bill for individual people. It all went to government agencies and big businesses.

The stimulus bill did create some new jobs and perhaps that was the best way to have benefited from it. There was also some aid to people who needed mortgage assistance but that was hard to qualify for. People continue to look for grants from the government hoping to find new ones that came about from the stimulus but there just aren't any.

People are still trying to find ways to make money, get jobs, and make ends meet in 2010. The stimulus bill did nothing to lower the unemployment rate and people are still having the hardest time of their lives finding work. What did we really get, if anything, for the 787 billion dollars the government is handing out?

There is always a segment of the population that thinks the government just hands out money to the needy. This perception was only heightened by the check many families received from George Bush during his last term in office. That check was an attempt to spur on the economy but now people will forever be hoping to get another one of those checks in the mail from something like a stimulus bill.

There has never been anything such as free money that doesn't come with some sort of a cost. Ultimately, people who pay taxes are the ones that will be responsible for this debt and it is too bad that so many in our society have escaped paying taxes. If everyone where responsible for this debt, there would be a greater chance that people would rebel and stop lawmakers from putting up deeper in debt year after year. - 39468
